I heartily recommend Jonas’ services to any and all clubs seeking a speaker as skilled in educating as he is in bonsai. Equal parts personable and professional, Jonas offers a teaching style that puts people at ease while eliciting high audience participation. A large portion of his presentation on bonsai display and stand selection was interactive, which our members found refreshingly different from the standard styling demonstration. Feedback from both neophyte and experienced practitioners was very positive.

Kusamura Bonsai Club recently had Jonas present a demo on exposed root black pines at one of our monthly meetings. What impressed me most was not only his complete mastery of the subject but how well he engaged our members keeping them totally involved during his entire presentation. Jonas was able to deliver a memorable experience to bonsai enthusiasts of all levels and it doesn’t get any better than that! Jonas is well versed in all areas of the bonsai hobby, if you are in need of someone to present at your meeting or show consider hiring him, you will not be disappointed. We were so impressed that we invited Jonas to headline at our 2017 annual show.

If your club is looking for a speaker that has all the expertise and teaching ability along with a good history of bonsai development and hands on experience Jonas is your man. His light hearted personality and personal way he presents things will win you over and you’ll definitely ask him back for a repeated performance the following year. Thanks Jonas, for your very dedicated knowledge and love for the bonsai enthusiast!

Jonas Dupuich treated the Marin Bonsai Club to a design class on the art of Japanese bonsai display. Through a slideshow of displays at some of Japan’s biggest shows, Jonas discussed how angles, flow and form combine to create a harmonious presentation. Jonas posed questions throughout the evening, triggering fresh insights among members, and graciously fielded a host of questions from the audience as we all sharpened our analytical skills and artistic sensibilities. A unique, educational and highly professional presentation.

Being responsible for programs for the American Bonsai Association, Sacramento, I like to invite talents that give our members a broad perspective of the bonsai art form and introduce them to new stars in the bonsai community. I learned of Jonas from attending the Bay Island Bonsai show and visiting his blog on the Internet. When I realized that many of my favorite trees that I have seen in area shows were created by Jonas, I knew that he would be a great talent to have present a program for ABAS. We were not disappointed. Jonas supplied a lovely, well developed Yaupon holly for the demonstration tree. He was well prepared with knowledge of his material, as well as articulate and entertaining in communicating with the audience. The finished product was beautiful. Our members were so impressed with his presentation that we will have him back as headliner for our spring show in April.

The Santa Cruz Bonsai Kai has had Jonas Dupuich provide several educational demonstrations over the past couple of years. Since this is the time of year to work on black pines, we engaged Jonas to instruct us on how to decandle and pull needles from our trees. Without a doubt, we not only got our money’s worth, but each club member that brought a tree of their own was provided individualized instructional help on the tree’s design from this expert. We all came away educated, informed, and excited!
Jonas’s presentation was logically presented with the priority of engaging the members in Q and A. To enhance the learning, we conducted critiques. These were eagerly discussed by the members with Jonas’s encouragement. Jonas’s teaching and people skills really made this an exceptional presentation. In addition to the presentation, we signed up members for one-on-one short workshops before and after our regular meeting, and we organized an all day workshop the day before our meeting. All of the participants agreed this was also a great success. Feedback from the members was so strong that we again “booked” Jonas for August 2018. He will do a follow-up presentation to continue to help us learn the “elusive secrets” to selecting quality trees.
