A highlight from the Green Club in 2014 – Japanese maple.
Japanese maple
Several things come to mind when appreciating this maple. I’m not sure of the variety, but there’s a chance it’s a sub-variety. If this is the case, the ramification is good. It also looks like the tree could be on the young side – note that the branches are a different color from the trunk. The roots are great but somewhat uniform – likely the result of an air-layer. The trunk itself is straight and yellowish. If a similar tree had a white trunk with a bit more movement it would be worth even more. The tree is a great example of a well made bonsai.
