Last weekend the Sei Boku Bonsai Kai held their 36th annual exhibit at the San Mateo Garden Center in San Mateo, California.
By hosting the show on the first weekend of June, Sei Boku gives members the opportunity to display trees with flowers, with fruit, and with plenty of new growth.
Azalea
Eleagnus
Coast redwood
The center of the room offered space for displays with scrolls and accents.
Shimpaku grafted on garden juniper
Bald cypress
Trees also lined the walls which filled the room with seasonal color.

The corner of the room featuring shohin provided a reminder that we’re just a few weeks away from a new, shohin-focused exhibit coming to Oakland at the end of the month.
Shohin display
The Bay Area Shohin and Suiseki Show will be held at the Lake Merritt Garden Center on June 29th and 30th. The event will feature a large sales and vendors area catering to stone and small tree enthusiasts. I’ll be there with a selection of shohin bonsai and pots. Hours will be 11-5 Saturday and 11-4 Sunday. Look for a reminder here one week before the event.
