Hi, my name is Jonas Dupuich – thanks for visiting!
I got my start in bonsai over thirty years ago when I met Boon Manakitivipart while working at my family’s nursery. After seeing a tree he had styled – a neglected black pine – I was hooked.
That experience kicked off more than two decades of study with Boon. During that time, I became a founding member of his club, Bay Island Bonsai, and I started this website – the Bonsai Tonight Blog.
In 2015, my hobby became my profession. I now teach classes, work on trees, and run a small bonsai business full-time.
My primary aim in bonsai is the same now as it was more than twenty years ago: to help as many people as possible appreciate beautiful bonsai.
If you’re looking to learn more about bonsai, you can read the blog, learn about my introductory and intermediate level bonsai books, or check out the site’s popular how-to guides.

Services
In addition to teaching classes, I’m available for club presentations and private consultations. To book an event or schedule a consultation, call or write using the contact information at the bottom of the page.
I heartily recommend Jonas’ services to any and all clubs seeking a speaker as skilled in educating as he is in bonsai. Equal parts personable and professional, Jonas offers a teaching style that puts people at ease while eliciting high audience participation.
