As great as reading or watching videos can be when you’re learning bonsai, they don’t compare with in-person education. If you’re interested in continuing your bonsai studies in person, I invite you to participate in workshops, intensives, or private classes at my garden.
Video Consultations are available for questions when in-person workshops aren’t an option. Use Video Consultations to get help with seasonal care, identify pruning or repotting strategies, or troubleshoot bonsai health problems.
Bring-Your-Own-Tree Workshops are group classes in which you develop your bonsai skills by working on trees from your collection.
Bonsai Development Intensives are three-day group classes designed to accelerate your learning and provide you with the skills required to develop and maintain your collection.
Private classes are available for individuals or groups that want to tailor their bonsai education to topics of their choosing. To book a private class, call or write using the contact information at the bottom of the page.
Philosophy
My goal for the above classes is to help participants gain the skills necessary to manage their own collections. Toward this end, I expect students to do the majority of work on their trees. I’ve found this to be the fastest way for students to gain proficiency, and it happens to be the most fun approach too!
