Bay Area Satsuki Aikokai 15th Annual Exhibit

June 3, 2009 by Jonas Dupuich

Last weekend the Bay Area Satsuki Aikokai (BASA) held their 15th annual exhibit (congratulations!). It’s nice to see that the organization has done well over the years. The exhibit and demonstrations were well attended and the trees looked great.

BASA’s exhibit is held at the Lakeside Garden Center in Oakland, CA. While a number of bonsai organizations hold their exhibits here, BASA takes a unique approach to their displays. One year the door to the room where the backdrops were stored was locked. As the opening neared, BASA members set up the exhibit without the backdrops and found that the room looked great without them. The exhibit has gone up without the backdrops ever since. Now visitors entering the exhibit are greeted with a room full of color. Here are some of this year’s highlights.
