The trees of Bonsai Shohin Japan

February 17, 2017 by Jonas Dupuich

Bonsai Shohin Japan was one of the many traders at this year’s Noelanders Trophy. As their name suggests, the nursery specializes in small bonsai imported from Japan.

The nursery is run by the very friendly Guillaume and Alex.

I was impressed by their material. They work closely with a variety of nurseries and professionals in Japan, including Hiroyuki Tanibata, Koji Hiramatsu, Toyoda Fukuju-en, and Ayumu Fukano of Yorozu-en.

Bonsai Shohin Japan’s stall reminded me of some stalls I’d seen at shows in Japan.

Seeing their trees made me want to visit their nursery. Next time I’m in France I’ll have to stop by!

GSBF Mammoth Fundraiser this Weekend

This Saturday and Sunday the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt is hosting its annual fundraiser. Saturday features a huge auction – you can download and browse the catalog here. Sunday features member sales and a large vendor area. See times and event details here.

I’ll be at the event Sunday with trees, tools and supplies available. Stop by and say hello!

Hi George – if your question is directed at the Bonsai Shohin Japan folks, I’d follow up with them directly. Thanks!
