New varieties in the garden

August 15, 2014 by Jonas Dupuich

This past winter I started a number of trees from seed. I planted the usual varieties – black and red pine – but also added some new varieties. I have yet to develop these varieties from seed to mature trees so am looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Hi Jonas, I always look forward to your posts, but I especially like this one because I also planted some of these varieties from seed recently. Looking at the Hawthorn seedling, I wonder when do you cut it, it already seems very tall? And when do you individually re-pot the Chinese quince seedlings.
Keep up the great posts, your photos are great!
    Thanks!,
    Bob

Hi Robert – good question about the hawthorn. I’ll likely cut it back a bit in fall or spring. I’ll report the quince at the same time, in fall or early spring. Thanks for the note!
